Case Study 8 - EFT, Hypnotherapy & NLP

Client
Student & Ballroom dancer - 17 year old girl.

Goals for Therapy
To eliminate the fear and nervousness she was experiencing just prior to competition dances as it was effecting her performances.
The problem started after she had an injury and since that time has become very nervous just before going on to dance. The nervous state is triggered when they are called over the tannoy system to get ready usually about 20 minutes before going on to the ballroom floor.

EFT
Showed her the 'proven' technique of EFT to help her overcome and combat her fear and nervousness in the 20 minutes run up before going on to dance.

Demonstrated the tapping points (first eight) and the gave her the ‘affirmation’ and got her to follow me through the exercise repeating the affirmation

‘Even though I get nervous before dancing competitions; I deeply and completely accept myself’

NLP - Kinaesthetic Swish
Showed her the NLP Kinaesthetic Swish technique of 'reframing' her nervous energy into a positive energy. This was acheived by getting her to visualise the situation of being called over the tannoy and then to replace the current 'picture' of her nervous state with a new 'picture' of a very confident state. This changed the effect of hearing the 20min tannoy call to get ready to dance to one of feeling confident and being in a postive state of mind.

Hypnotherapy
Used relaxation and guided visualisation to get her to imagine herself dancing at her best, with joy and confidence every time she competes. Integrated this into her conscious mind, replacing the negative thoughts and emotions she previously had about going into dancing competitions with only postive thoughts.

EFT
Finished the session with a reminder of the EFT technique and gave her a crib sheet of the tapping points and the affirmation.

Follow up 3-4 weeks later
Her nervousness has gone and her competition results had improved.
Subsequently did one further Hypnotherapy session with her to bolster the previous work we had done (just prior to an important competition) and this had the desired effect of maintaining her positive state of mind (She did vey well in the competition).
